Wamafilms empezó por la inquietud y las ganas de acercarnos al mundo del cine, un mundo a través de el cual cada uno de nosotros deseamos expresarnos de alguna manera. Creemos firmemente que el cine es un medio de comunicación masiva; por ende creamos wamafilms para que sea nuestra herramienta de comunicación con los demás.

¿Cómo? A través de historias que nos parecen dignas, o que valen la pena de contar, que nos hagan reflexionar y nos hagan sentir como seres humanos que somos, y ¿porque no?, que se queden en nuestros corazones, para finalmente producir algun cambio en nosotros.

The DIRECTOR

ALONSO ALVAREZ BARREDA was born in Mexico City and raised in the Mexican town Tampico, Tamaulipas. He attended the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas for International Commerce but after 2 years decided to pursue his lifelong dream of filmmaking. Through his mother, he met director Alejandro Monteverde (Bella). Monteverde became his friend and mentor encouraging Alvarez to shoot his first short film. Written, produced and directed by Alvarez, “El Agodonero” was his first attempt. Recognizing his talent, Monteverde urged Alvarez to shoot another. Alvarez’s second short “Historia de un Letrero” won the highly coveted Best Short Film Award in the Short Film Corner at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival.  Alvarez’s latest short The Finding penned with actor Julio César Cedillo is his first foray in film. Shot in super 16mm, “The Finding” stars Julio César Cedillo (The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada) and Mexican star Alejandro Felipe Flores (Innocent Voices). The Finding has been official selection in over 20 international film festivals around the world, taking 5 international awards and was invited to the 2010 Cannes Film Festival. The Finding has been screened several times on National TV in México, schools and inside the Metro bus in México city.

He is currently in pre-production of his next film, which will be shot at Universal Studios in Los Angeles, CA and in the streets of Germany.
